Hadith 1268
1268 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يَا جَابِرُ لَوْ قَدْ جَاءَ مَالُ الْبَحْرَيْنِ لَأَعْطَيْتُكَ هَكَذَا، وَهَكَذَا، وَهَكَذَا» ، فَقُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَمْ يَأْتِ مَالُ الْبَحْرَيْنِ، وَأَتَي فِي خِلَافَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، فَأَمَرَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُنَادِيًا فَنَادَي مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ عَلَي النَّبِيِّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَيْنٌ أَوْ عِدَةٌ فَلْيَأْتِ، قَالَ جَابِرٌ: فَأَتَيْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: «لَوْ قَدْ جَاءَ مَالُ الْبَحْرَيْنِ لَأَعْطَيْتُكَ هَكَذَا، وَهَكَذَا، وَهَكَذَا» فَحَثَي لِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ مَرَّةً، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي: عُدَّهَا، فَعَدَدْتُهَا فَوَجَدْتُهَا خَمْسَمِائَةٍ، فَقَالَ خُذْ مِثْلَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, saying that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me: "O Jabir! If the wealth of Bahrain comes to us, I will give you this much, this much, and this much." Then the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away, and the wealth of Bahrain did not come. It came during the caliphate of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him. So Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, told a person to announce: Whoever the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, owed any payment to, or to whom he made any promise, should come forward. Sayyiduna Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, says: I went to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, and I told him: The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If the wealth of Bahrain comes, I will give you this much, this much, and this much." So Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, joined both his hands together and filled them and gave it to me, then said to me: Count it. I counted it, and it was five hundred (dirhams). Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Take double of this as well.
