Hadith 1253
1253 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا حُمَيْدٌ، سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَي نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ، فَحَكَّهَا، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَي النَّاسِ مُغْضَبًا، فَقَالَ: «أَيُحِبُّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يُبْصَقَ فِي وَجْهِهِ» ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا أَقَامَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَإِنَّمَا يُوَاجِهُ رَبَّهُ، فَلَا يَبْزُقْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ، وَلَكِنْ لِيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ، أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَي، فَإِنْ عَجَّلَتْ بِهِ بَادِرَةٌ، فَلْيَجْعَلْهَا فِي ثَوْبِهِ، وَلَيْقُلْ بِهَا هَكَذَا» ، وَأَشَارَ الْحُمَيْدِيُّ إِلَي طَرْفِ ثَوْبِهِ فَدَلَّكَهُ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw phlegm stuck in the direction of the qiblah in the mosque, so he scraped it off. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), in a state of anger, turned towards the people and said: "Does any person like that someone spits towards his face? When a servant stands in prayer, he is before his Lord, so no one should spit to his right or in front of him, rather he should spit to his left or under his left foot. If he is in great haste and urgency to spit, then he should spit into his garment and rub it in like this." Humaydi (may Allah have mercy on him), the narrator, indicated towards the edge of his garment and demonstrated by rubbing it.
