Hadith 1171
1171 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا أَبُو الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " احْتَجَّتِ الْجَنَّةُ وَالنَّارُ، فَقَالَتْ هَذِهِ: يَدْخُلُنِي الْجَبَّارُونَ، وَالْمُتَكَبِّرُونَ، وَقَالَتْ هَذهِ: يَدْخُلُنِي الضُّعَفَاءُ وَالْمَسَاكِينُ، فَقَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِهَذِهِ: أَنْتِ عَذَابِي أُعَذِّبُ بِكِ مَنْ أَشَاءَ، وَقَالَ لِهَذِهِ: أَنْتِ رَحْمَتِي أَرْحَمُ بِكِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: وَأَرَي فِيهِ: وَلِكُلِّ وَاحِدَةٍ مِنْكُمَا مِلْؤُهَا "
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There was a dispute between Paradise and Hell. Hell said: The rebellious and arrogant will enter me. Paradise said: The weak and poor will enter me. So Allah Almighty said to it (Hell): 'You are My punishment; through you I will punish whom I will.' And He said to it (Paradise): 'You are My mercy; through you I will show mercy to whom I will.' Sufyan says: I think these words are also in the narration: 'Each of you will be filled.'"
