Hadith 1151
1151 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا عُمَارَةُ بْنُ الْقَعْقَاعِ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَي النَّبِيِّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: مَنْ أَوْلَي النَّاسِ بِحُسْنِ الصُّحْبَةِ مِنِّي؟ قَالَ: «أُمُّكَ» ، قَالَ: «أُمُّكَ» ، ثُمْ مَنْ؟ قَالَ: «أَبُوكَ» قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: «فَيَرَوْنَ أَنَّ لِلْأُمِّ الثُّلُثَيْنِ مِنَ الْبِرِّ وَلِلْأَبِّ الثُّلُثَ»
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked: "Who is most deserving of my good treatment?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your mother." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this twice. The man asked: "Then who?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your father." Sufyan says: The scholars hold the opinion that two-thirds of good treatment is for the mother, and one-third is for the father.
