Hadith 1072
1072 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا أَبُو الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَا مِنْ مَوْلُودٍ إِلَّا يَطْعَنُ الشَّيْطَانُ فِي نُغْضِ كَتِفِهِ، إِلَّا عِيسَي وَأُمَّهُ، فَإِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ حَفَّتْ بِهِمَا، وَاقْرَءُوا وَإِنْ شِئْتُمْ: ﴿ وَإِنِّي أُعِيذُهَا بِكَ وَذُرِّيَّتَهَا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ﴾ "
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whenever a child is born, Satan pokes him on the upper part of his shoulder. Only Sayyiduna ‘Isa (peace be upon him) and his mother were exempted from this, because both of them were covered by the angels. If you wish, recite this verse: «وَإِنِّي أُعِيذُهَا بِكَ وَذُرِّيَّتَهَا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ» (3-Aal ‘Imran:36) 'I seek Your protection for her and her offspring from the accursed Satan.'"
