Hadith 1052
1052 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: «أَسْرِعوا بِالْجِنَازَةِ، فَإِنْ تَكُ صَالِحَةً، فَخَيْرٌ تُقَدِّمُونَهَا إِلَيْهِ، وَإِنْ تَكُنْ سِوَي ذَلِكَ فَشَرٌّ تَضَعُونَهُ عَنْ رِقَابِكُمْ»
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hasten with the funeral procession, for if the deceased was righteous, you are taking him towards something good, and if it was otherwise, then you are removing an evil from your necks."
