Hadith 1038
1038 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا الزُّهْرِيُّ، وَحَفِظْتُهُ مِنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، هَلَكْتُ، قَالَ: «وَمَا شَأْنُكَ؟» ، قَالَ: وَقَعْتُ عَلَي امْرَأَتِي فِي رَمَضَانَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَتَسْتَطيعُ أَنْ تَعْتِقَ رَقَبَةً؟» ، قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: «تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَصُومَ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ؟» ، قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: «فَهَلْ تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تُطْعِمَ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا؟» ، قَالَ: لَا، لَا أَجِدُ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اجْلِسْ» ، فَجَلَسَ، فَبَيْنَا هُوَ عَلَي ذَلِكَ إِذْ أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، بِعَرَقٍ فِيهِ تَمْرٌ وَالْعَرَقُ الْمِكْتَلُ الضَّخْمُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اذْهَبْ فَتَصَدَّقْ بِهَذَا» ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولِ اللَّهِ، عَلَي أَفْقَرَ مِنَّا؟، فَوَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ مَا بَيْنَ لَابَتَيْهَا أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ أَفْقَرُ مِنَّا، قَالَ: فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّي بَدَتْ أَنْيَابُهُ " وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: نَوَاجِذُهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «اذْهَبْ فَأَطْعِمْهِ عِيَالَكَ»
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have been ruined. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What has happened to you?" He replied: I had intercourse with my wife during Ramadan (while fasting). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: "Can you free a slave?" He replied: No. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Can you fast for two consecutive months?" He replied: No. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Can you feed sixty needy people?" He replied: No, I do not have the means for that either. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sit down." The man sat down. While he was sitting, a basket of dates was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The word "araq" means a large container. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the man: "Go and give it as charity." He said: O Messenger of Allah! Should I give charity to someone poorer than us? By the One Who has sent you with the truth, there is no household in the entire city poorer than ours. The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled so much that his molar teeth became visible. Then he said: "Go and feed it to your family."
