Hadith 1023
1023 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ الْعُذْرِيِّ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِذَا صَلَّي أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَجْعَلْ تِلْقَاءَ وَجْهِهِ شَيْئًا، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ شَيْئًا، فَلْيَنْصِبْ عَصًا، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ عَصًا، فَلْيَخْطُطْ خَطًّا ثُمَّ لَا يَضُرُّهُ مَا مَرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ»
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a person performs prayer, he should place something in front of him. If he does not find anything, he should set up a staff. If he does not find even a staff, he should draw a line. Then, whoever passes beyond that will not harm him."
