Hadith 947
Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: “The lawful is clear and the unlawful is also clear, and between them are some doubtful matters. So whoever leaves that which is doubtful for fear of sin, he will all the more leave that which is clearly sinful. And whoever boldly indulges in doubtful matters, he may eventually fall into the unlawful. It is like a shepherd grazing his animals around a sanctuary; there is a possibility that the animals may enter the sanctuary. Indeed, every king has a sanctuary, and the sanctuary of Allah on earth is that which He has declared unlawful.”
