878 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ قَيْسَ بْنَ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ الْمُسْتَوْرِدَ أَخَا بَنِي فِهْرٍ، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: «مَا الدُّنْيَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا كَمَا يَجْعَلُ أَحَدُكُمْ إِصْبَعَهُ فِي الْيَمِّ، ثُمَّ يَنْظُرُ بِمَ يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِ» ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: " وَكَانَ ابْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، يَقُولُ فِيهِ: سَمِعْتُ الْمُسْتَوْرِدَ أَخِي بَنِي فِهْرٍ يَلْحَنُ فِيهِ، فَقُلْتُ أَنَا: أَخَا بَنِي فِهْرٍ "
Sayyiduna Mustawrid Fahri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The position of this world in comparison to the Hereafter is just like if a person were to dip his finger into the sea and then see how much water adheres to his finger." Sufyan says: While narrating this tradition, Ibn Abu Khalid used to say that I heard this narration from Sayyiduna Mustawrid (may Allah be pleased with him), who belonged to Banu Fihr, and while using these words, he would make a verbal mistake.
