Hadith 843
843 - قَالَ: وَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: «إِذَا أَفْطَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُفْطِرْ عَلَي تَمْرٍ، فَإِنَّهُ بَرَكَةٌ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ، فَمَاءٌ فَإِنَّهُ طَهُورٌ»
(Sayyiduna Salman bin Amir, may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say, "When any person breaks his fast, he should do so with dates because there is blessing in them. If there are no dates, then he should break his fast with water because it is purifying (or a means of attaining purity)."
