815 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ النَّخَعِيِّ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ مَطْهَرَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ الَّذِي يَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْهَا الْعَامَّةُ، ثُمَّ يَمْسَحُ عَلَي خُفَّيْهِ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: أَتَفْعَلُ هَذَا؟ قَالَ: وَمَا يَمْنَعُنِي وَقَدْ «رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ عَلَي خُفَّيْهِ»، قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ: «فَكَانَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ يُعْجِبُ أَصْحَابَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ؛ لِأَنَّ إِسْلَامَ جَرِيرٍ كَانَ بَعْدَ نُزُولِ الْمَائِدَةِ»
Hammam bin Harith narrates: I saw Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) performing ablution at the mosque’s place of ablution where common people also perform ablution. Then he wiped over his leather socks. So he was asked: Do you do this? He replied: Why should I not do it, when I saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over his leather socks? Ibrahim Nakha’i narrates: The students of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) liked this narration very much, because Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam after Surah Al-Ma’idah was revealed.
