Warrad, who was the secretary of Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates: Sayyiduna Mu’awiyah bin Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter to Sayyiduna Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him), asking him to write and send any hadith that he had heard from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). So Sayyiduna Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote back to him: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say, when he completed the prayer, he would recite: “There is no deity except Allah, He is One, He has no partner. Sovereignty belongs to Him and He has power over all things. O Allah! None can withhold what You give, and none can give what You withhold, and the effort of the earnest (or the wealth and status of a person of means) is of no avail against Your will.”
