Hadith 758
758 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ، قَالَ: ثنا عِيَاضُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَرْحٍ، قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ، جَاءَ وَمَرْوَانُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، فَقَامَ يُصَلِّي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ، فَجَاءَ إِلَيْهِ الْأَحْرَاسُ لِيُجْلِسُوهُ، فَأَبَي أَنْ يَجْلِسَ حَتَّي صَلَّي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ، فَلَمَّا قَضَي الصَّلَاةَ أَتَيْنَاهُ، فَقُلْنَا لَهُ: يَا أَبَا سَعِيدٍ كَادَ هَؤُلَاءِ أَنْ يَفْعَلُوا بِكَ، فَقَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ: مَا كُنْتُ لِأَدَعَهُمَا لِشَيْءٍ بَعْدَ شَيْءٍ رَأَيْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، فَدَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ بِهَيْئَةٍ بَذَّةٍ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَصَلَّيْتَ» ؟ قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: «فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ» ، ثُمَّ حَثَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النَّاسَ عَلَي الصَّدَقَةِ، فَأَلْقَي النَّاسُ ثِيَابًا، فَأَعْطَي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الرَّجُلَ مِنْهَا ثَوْبَيْنِ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَتِ الْجُمُعَةُ الْأُخْرَي، جَاءَ الرَّجُلُ وَالنَّبِيُّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «هَلْ صَلَّيْتَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ؟» قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: «فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ» ، ثُمَّ حَثَّ النَّاسَ عَلَي الصَّدَقَةِ، فَأَلْقَوْا ثِيَابًا، فَأَعْطَي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الرَّجُلَ مِنْهَا ثَوْبَيْنِ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَتِ الْجُمُعَةُ الْأُخْرَي، جَاءَ الرَّجُلُ وَالنَّبِيُّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «هَلْ صَلَّيْتَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ؟» قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: «فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ» ، ثُمَّ حَثَّ النَّاسَ عَلَي الصَّدَقَةِ، فَأَلْقَوْا ثِيَابًا، فَطَرَحَ الرَّجُلُ أَحَدَ ثَوْبَيْهِ، فَصَاحَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَقَالَ: «خُذْهُ، فَأَخَذَهُ» ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " انْظُرُوا إِلَي هَذَا، جَاءَ تِلْكَ الْجُمُعَةَ بِهَيْئَةٍ بَذَّةٍ، فَأَمَرْتُ النَّاسَ بِالصَّدَقَةِ، فَأَلْقَوْا ثِيَابًا، فَأَعْطَيْتُهُ مِنْهَا ثَوْبَيْنِ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَتْ هَذِهِ الْجُمُعَةُ أَمَرْتُ النَّاسَ بِالصَّدَقَةِ، فَأَلْقَي أَحَدَ ثَوْبَيْهِ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: يَقُولُ: لَا صَدَقَةَ إِلَّا عَنْ ظَهْرِ غِنًي، وَلَا غِنًي بِهَذَا عَنْ ثَوْبِهِ "
Iyad bin Abdullah narrates: I saw Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) come while Marwan was delivering the Friday sermon. Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up to perform two rak'ahs. The guards came to him to force him to sit down, but he refused to sit and performed the two rak'ahs. When he completed the prayer, I approached him and said: O Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him), it was close that these people would have treated you harshly. Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: After what I have seen from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding this, I will not abandon these two rak'ahs for any other reason. I remember regarding the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), a man came while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering the Friday sermon. That man entered the mosque in an ordinary state, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: Have you performed the prayer? He replied: No. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform two rak'ahs." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged the people to give charity, so the people gave their garments in charity. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave that man two garments from among them. When the next Friday came, a man came while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering the sermon. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Have you performed two rak'ahs? He replied: "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform two rak'ahs." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged the people to give charity, so the people gave their garments. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave that man two garments from among them. When the Friday after that came, a man came while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering the sermon. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Have you performed two rak'ahs?" He replied: No. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform two rak'ahs." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged the people to give charity. The people presented their garments, so that man placed one of his two garments there. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called out to him in a loud voice and said: "Take it back." He took it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Look at this man. On that day, he came in a bad state on Friday. I encouraged the people to give charity, so the people presented their garments and I gave him two garments from among them. Now when he came this Friday, I ordered the people to give charity, so he gave one of his two garments." Sufyan used to say: Charity is that which, after giving it, a person remains well-off. And if that man had given his garment, then he would not have remained well-off.
