Hadith 756
756 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا يَحْيَي بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَأَبُو عُمَيْرٍ الْحَارِثُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ، أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا مِنْ أَبِي طُوَالَةَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ نَهَّارٍ الْعَبْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: " إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيَسْأَلُ الْعَبْدَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حَتَّي يَقُولَ: مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَ الْمُنْكَرِ فِي الدُّنْيَا أَنْ تَكْرَهَ، فَإِذَا لَقَّنَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَبْدَهُ حُجَّتَهُ، قَالَ: يَا رَبِّ رَجَوْتُكَ وَخِفْتُ النَّاسَ "
Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: “Indeed, Allah Almighty will question the servant on the Day of Resurrection and will say: What prevented you, when you saw a wrong (munkar) thing in the world, from rejecting it? Then Allah Almighty will inspire the servant with his argument, so the servant will say: O my Lord! I had hope in You and I was afraid of the people.”
