Hadith 718
718 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «صَدَقَةُ الْفِطْرِ صَاعٌ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ، أَوْ صَاعٌ مِنْ تَمْرٍ» قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: «فَلَمَّا كَانَ مُعَاوِيَةُ عَدَلَ النَّاسُ نِصْفَ صَاعٍ بُرٍّ، بِصَاعٍ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ» قَالَ نَافِعٌ وَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: «يُخْرِجُ صَدَقَةَ الْفِطْرِ عَنِ الصَّغِيرِ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ وَالْكَبِيرِ، وَالْحُرِّ وَالْعَبْدِ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Sadaqat al-Fitr will be one sa’ of barley or one sa’ of dates." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him), during his rule, considered half a sa’ of wheat to be equal to one sa’ of barley. Nafi’ narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to pay Sadaqat al-Fitr on behalf of every young and old, free and slave, in his household.
