Nafi’ reports: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) assumed the ihram for ‘umrah when he departed from Madinah. Then he said: If I am prevented, I will do as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did. When he reached the place of Bayda’, he said: The status of Hajj and ‘Umrah is the same. I make you all witnesses that I have made Hajj obligatory along with my ‘Umrah. The narrator says: Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to Makkah, performed tawaf of the House seven times, prayed two rak‘ahs at the Maqam Ibrahim, then performed sa‘i between Safa and Marwah. Then he said: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do the same. Ayub bin Musa, in his narration, added these words: When Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reached the place of Qudayd, he took a sacrificial animal from there and brought it along.
