Hadith 681
681 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ كَمْ مَرَّةٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ نَافِعًا، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ، يَقُولُ: لَسْتُ أَنْهَي أَحَدًا صَلَّي أَيَّ سَاعَةٍ شَاءَ مِنْ لَيْلٍ أَوْ نَهَارٍ، وَلَكِنِّي إِنَّمَا أَفْعَلُ كَمَا رَأَيْتُ أَصْحَابِي يَفْعَلُونَ، وَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا تَحَرَّوْا بِصَلَاتِكُمْ طُلُوعَ الشَّمْسِ، وَلَا غُرُوبَهَا» ، قِيلَ لِسُفْيَانَ: هَذَا يُرْوَي عَنْ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ: «مَا سَمِعْتُ هِشَامًا ذَكَرَهُ قَطُّ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I do not prohibit anyone from performing prayer at any time of the night or day; I do as I have seen my companions doing. However, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has said: "You should especially avoid performing prayer when the sun is about to rise or about to set." Sufyan was told: This narration has been transmitted on the authority of Hisham, so he said: I have never heard Hisham mentioning it.
