Hadith 650
Zaid bin Aslam narrates: My father sent me to the service of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), so I entered his place without seeking permission. He taught me and said: When you come, first seek permission to enter; if you are granted permission, then enter and offer salam. Meanwhile, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar’s grandson, Abdullah bin Waqid, passed by there. He was wearing new clothes and was walking with his garment trailing. So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said to him: O my son! Raise your lower garment, for I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Allah Almighty does not look with mercy at the person who lets his clothes hang out of pride.”
