Hadith 615
615 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا عَمْرٌو، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ وَهْبَ بْنَ مُنَبِّهٍ فِي دَارِهِ بِصَنْعَاءَ، قَالَ: وَأَطْعَمَنِي مِنْ جَوْزَةٍ فِي دَارِهِ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، يَقُولُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: «لَا تُلْحِفُوا فِي الْمَسْأَلَةِ، فَوَاللَّهِ لَا يَسْأَلُنِي أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ شَيْئًا فَيُخْرِجُهُ لَهُ مِنِّي الْمَسْأَلَةُ، فَأُعْطِيهِ إِيَّاهُ وَأَنَا لَهُ كَارِهٌ، فَيُبَارَكَ لَهُ فِي الَّذِي أَعْطَيْتُهُ»
Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Do not beg from anyone with insistence. By Allah! Whoever among you asks me for something, and his asking causes that thing to be taken out from me for him, and I give it to him, even though I do not like it, then there will be no blessing for him in what I have given."
