Hadith 598
598 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي صُهَيْبٌ مَوْلَي عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ قَتَلَ عُصْفُورَةً فَمَا فَوْقَهَا بِغَيْرِ حَقِّهَا سَأَلَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَنْ قَتْلِهَا» ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، وَمَا حَقُّهَا؟ قَالَ: «يَذْبَحُهَا فَيَأْكُلَهَا، وَلَا يَقْطَعُ رَأْسَهَا، فَيَرْمِيَ بِهَا»، فَقِيلَ لِسُفْيَانَ: فَإِنَّ حَمَّادَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ يَقُولُ فِيهِ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرٌو، عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ الْحَذَّاءِ، فَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ: " مَا سَمِعْتُ عَمْرًا قَالَ قَطُّ: صُهَيْبٌ الْحَذَّاءُ مَا قَالَ إِلَّا: صُهَيْبٌ مَوْلَي عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ "
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever kills a sparrow or any creature smaller than it without right, Allah Almighty will question him about that killing." The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is its right? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That he slaughters it and eats it, and that he does not cut off its head completely and throw it away." Sufyan was told: Hammad bin Zaid says in this narration: Sayyiduna Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this from Suhaib al-Khadda’, so Sufyan said: I have never heard Amr mentioning Suhaib al-Khadda’. He only used to say Suhaib, who is the freed slave of Abdullah bin Amir.
