Hadith 563
563 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا الزُّهْرِيُّ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ، وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا حَكِيمَ بْنَ حِزَامٍ يَقُولُ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَعْطَانِي ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُهُ فَأَعْطَانِي ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُهُ فَأَعْطَانِي ثُمَّ قَالَ: «إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَالَ خَضِرَةٌ حُلْوَةٌ فَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِطِيبِ نَفْسٍ بُورِكَ لَهُ فِيهِ، وَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِإِشْرَافِ نَفْسٍ لَمْ يُبَارَكْ لَهُ فِيهِ، وَكَانَ كَالَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَلَا يَشْبَعُ، وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَي» قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: لَمْ أَسْمَعْ إِلَّا هَذَا
Sayyiduna Hakim bin Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for something and he gave it to me. I asked him again and he gave it to me. I asked him again and he gave it to me. I asked him again and he gave it to me. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This wealth is lush and sweet. Whoever receives it with contentment of heart, there is blessing in it for him. And whoever receives it with greed, there is no blessing in it for him, and he is like the one who eats but is never satisfied. And the upper hand is better than the lower hand."
