Hadith 562
562 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ الشَّرِيدِ يَقُولُ: أَخَذَ الْمِسْوَرُ بْنُ الْمَخْرَمَةِ بِيَدِي فَقَالَ: انْطَلِقْ بِنَا إِلَي سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ فَخَرَجْتُ مَعَهُ وَإِنَّ يَدَهُ لَعَلَي أَحَدِ مَنْكِبَيَّ فَجَاءَ إِلَيْهِ أَبُو رَافِعٍ فَقَالَ لِلْمِسْوَرِ: أَلَا تَأْمُرُ هَذَا - يَعْنِي سَعْدًا - يَشْتَرِي مِنْ بَيْتِي الَّذِي فِي دَارِهِ فَقَالَ سَعْدٌ: لَا وَاللَّهِ لَا أَزِيدُ عَلَي أَرْبَعِمِائَةِ دِينَارٍ إِمَّا قَالَ مُقَطَّعَةً، وَإِمَّا قَالَ مُنَجَّمَةً قَالَ: فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو رَافِعٍ: وَاللَّهِ إِنْ كُنْتُ لَأَمْنَعُهَا مِنْ خَمْسِمِائَةِ دِينَارٍ نَقْدًا؟ وَلَوْلَا أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «الْجَارُ أَحَقُّ بِسَقَبِهِ مَا بِعْتُكَ»
Amr bin Shuraid narrates: Sayyiduna Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) held my hand and said: Come with me to Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him). I went with him, and one of his hands was on my shoulder. Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him and said to Sayyiduna Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him): Will you not tell him, meaning Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him), to buy my house which is in his neighborhood? So Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) said: No! By Allah, I will not pay more than four hundred dinars, and that payment will be in installments (the narrator is unsure about the word here). The narrator says: So Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: By Allah! I have already refused five hundred dinars in cash. If I had not heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “The neighbor has more right to his adjacent property,” I would not sell it to you.
