Abu Wa’il narrates: It was said to Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them): Will you not speak with Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him)? So he replied: Do you think that when I speak with him, I will do so in a way that you will hear it? Rather, I will speak with him, but in such a way that I will not be the first person to open any door. Then Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them) said: I heard something from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so after that I do not say about any person who is my leader that he is the best. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “(On the Day of Resurrection) a man will be brought who was a ruler in the world, and he will be thrown into Hell, and his intestines will come out of his place, and he will circle in Hell as a donkey circles around a millstone. Then the people of Hell will gather around him and say: Did you not used to command us to do good? And did you not forbid us from evil? He will say: I used to command you to do good, but I did not do it myself. And I used to forbid you from evil, but I used to commit it myself.”
