Hadith 495
495 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ سُحَيْمٍ مَوْلَي ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: " كَشَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ السِّتَارَةَ وَالنَّاسُ صُفُوفٌ خَلْفَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ: إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْ مُبَشِّرَاتِ النُّبُوَّةِ إِلَّا الرُّؤْيَا الصَّالِحَةُ يَرَاهَا الْمُسْلِمُ أَوْ تُرَي لَهُ، أَلَا إِنِّي نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَقْرَأَ رَاكِعًا أَوْ سَاجِدًا، فَأَمَّا الرُّكُوعُ فَعَظِّمُوا الرَّبَ فِيهِ، وَأَمَّا السُّجُودُ فَاجْتَهِدُوا فِي الدُّعَاءِ فَقَمِنٌ أَنْ يُسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) lifted the curtain, and the people were standing in rows behind Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Now, from the glad tidings of Prophethood, only true dreams remain, which a Muslim sees (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words) or which are shown to him. Beware! I have been forbidden from reciting (Qur'an) during bowing (ruku') or prostration (sujud). As for bowing, in it you should glorify your Lord, and as for prostration, in it you should make supplication with earnestness, for it is more likely to be accepted."
