Musnad al-Humaydi

Kathir bin Abbas narrates from his father, Sayyiduna Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him): On the occasion of the Battle of Hunayn, I was with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) was riding his mule, which a leper had given to him as a gift. When the Muslims began to retreat, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to me: "O Abbas! Call out in a loud voice and say: O people of the tree (those who pledged allegiance under the tree)! O people of Surah Al-Baqarah (those who believe in Surah Al-Baqarah)!" Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was a man with a loud voice, so I called out in a loud voice, "O people of the tree (those who pledged allegiance under the tree)! O people of Surah Al-Baqarah (those who believe in Surah Al-Baqarah)!" Then those people turned back all at once, just as a cow turns back to its calf. Voices were raised and they were saying, "O group of Ansar! O group of Ansar!" Then the call was shortened and directed towards Banu Harith bin Khazraj, and it was said: "O Banu Harith!" Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace be upon him) continued to observe the battle while riding his mule. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Now the battle has flared up well." He (peace be upon him) also said: "O Abbas! Move forward." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) took a handful of pebbles and threw them and said: "By the Lord of the Ka'bah! They will be defeated." The narrator named Sufyan sometimes narrates these words: "By the Lord of Muhammad (peace be upon him)!" Sufyan says: Zuhri narrated this long hadith to us, but this part has remained in my memory.
