Hadith 429
Abdullah bin Abu Qatadah narrates from his father: A man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! What is your opinion about this: if I fight with this sword of mine in the way of Allah, hoping for reward, facing the enemy, not turning my back, and I am killed, will Allah forgive my sins? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Yes." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) remained silent for a while, until I thought that some command was being revealed to him. When that man left, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Call him back! Jibreel (peace be upon him) is saying, if you have a debt, it will not be forgiven."
