391 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ يَقُولُ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو إِدْرِيسَ الْخُولَانِيُّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُبَادَةَ بْنَ الصَّامِتِ يَقُولُ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَجْلِسٍ فَقَالَ: «تُبَايِعُونِي أَنْ لَا تُشْرِكُوا بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا، وَلَا تَسْرِقُوا، وَلَا تَزْنُوا الْآيَةَ فَمَنْ وَفَّا مِنْكُمْ فَأَجْرُهُ عَلَي اللَّهِ وَمَنْ أَصَابَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا فَعُوقِبَ بِهِ فَهُوَ كَفَّارَةٌ لَهُ، وَمَنْ أَصَابَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا فَسَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَيْهِ فَهُوَ إِلَي اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِنْ شَاءَ غَفَرَ لَهُ وَإِنْ شَاءَ عَذَّبَهُ» قَالَ سُفْيَانُ كُنَّا عِنْدَ الزُّهْرِيِّ فَلَمَّا حَدَّثَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَشَارَ إِلِيًّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْهُذَلِيِّ أَنْ أَحْفَظَهُ فَكَتَبْتُهُ فَلَمَّا قَامَ الزُّهْرِيُّ أَخْبَرْتُ بِهِ أَبَا بَكْرٍ
Sayyiduna ‘Ubada bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were present in a gathering with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace be upon him) said: “Pledge allegiance to me that you will not associate anything with Allah, you will not steal, you will not commit adultery. Whoever among you fulfills this, his reward is with Allah Almighty. And whoever commits any of these crimes and is punished for it, then that will be an expiation for him. And whoever commits any of these crimes and Allah conceals it for him, then his matter is with Allah. If He wills, He will forgive him, and if He wills, He will punish him.”
