Hadith 381
381 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا الزُّهْرِيُّ قَالَ: وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيُّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا يَحِلُّ لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يَهْجُرَ أَخَاهُ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ يَلْتَقِيَانِ فَيَصُدُّ هَذَا وَيَصُدُّ هَذَا وَخَيْرُهُمَا الَّذِي يَبْدَأُ بِالسَّلَامِ» قَالَ سُفْيَانُ كَانَ الزُّهْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا قَبْلَهُ حَدِيثَ أَنَسٍ ثُمَّ أتْبَعَهُ هَذَا فَقَالَ: وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ
Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not permissible for any Muslim to cut off relations with his brother for more than three days, such that when they meet, this one turns his face one way and the other turns his face the other way. The better of the two is the one who initiates the greeting of peace (salam)." Sufyan says: At first, Zuhri used to narrate this hadith as being from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), but then he began to narrate it from Ata bin Yazid.
