Lady Umaymah bint Ruqayqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I, along with some women, pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As much as you are able and as much strength as you have (you should act upon these commands)." I said: Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) are more merciful to us than our own selves. O Messenger of Allah! Please take the pledge of allegiance from us. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will not shake hands with you. My speaking with a hundred women is just as my speaking with one woman."
Imam Humaydi (may Allah have mercy on him) says: It was said to Sufyan: Other hadith scholars have narrated that this narration is from Lady Umaymah bint Ruqayqah (may Allah be pleased with her), who was a relative of Lady Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her). So Sufyan said: She was the daughter of Lady Khadijah's (may Allah be pleased with her) sister (niece). However, Ibn al-Munkadir, when narrating this hadith to us, did not mention these words.
