Lady Asma bint Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: During the time of the Quraysh, my mother (who had not embraced Islam) came to me seeking some financial help. I asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): Should I treat her kindly? The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: Yes. Sufyan says: Regarding this, the following verse was revealed: "Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes—from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly." (60-Al-Mumtahanah:8)
