280 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: جَاءَتْ سَهْلَةُ بِنْتُ سُهَيْلٍ إِلَي النَّبِيِّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي أَرَي فِي وَجْهِ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ مِنْ دُخُولِ سَالِمٍ عَلَيَّ كَرَاهِيَةً فَقَالَ «أَرْضِعِيهِ» فَقَالَتْ كَيْفَ أُرْضِعُهُ وَهُوَ رَجُلٌ كَبِيرٌ؟ فَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَالَ «قَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ رَجُلٌ كَبِيرٌ» قَالَتْ: فَأَرْضَعَتْهُ، ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ إِلَي النَّبِيِّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتٍ: مَا رَأَيْتُ فِي وَجْهِ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ شَيْئًا أَكْرَهُهُ مُنْذُ أَرْضَعْتُهُ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَقَدْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا
Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Sahla bint Suhail came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). She said: I have seen signs of dislike on the face of my husband, Sayyiduna Abu Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him), because of the coming of Salim to my house. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Breastfeed him (i.e., Salim).” I said: How can I breastfeed him when he is a grown man? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled. He said: “I know he is a grown man.” Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says: So that woman breastfed that boy, then she came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Since I have breastfed that boy, I have not seen anything in Sayyiduna Abu Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I dislike. Abdur Rahman bin Qasim says: Sayyiduna Abu Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) participated in the Battle of Badr.
