Hadith 272
272 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا مِسْعَرٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا مُطِرْنَا قَالَ: «اللَّهُمَّ سَيِّبًا نَافِعًا» قَالَ سُفْيَانُ هَكَذَا حَفِظْتُهُ سَيِّبًا، وَالَّذِي حَفِظُوا أَجْوَدُ صَيِّبًا
Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When rain would descend, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite: “O Allah, make it continuous and beneficial.” Sufyan says: I have remembered this wording of the narration as “sayyib” (meaning continuous), while the wording remembered by other narrators is better, that is, “sayyib” (torrential).
