Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: For some days, the condition of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was such that he would feel as if he had perhaps had relations with his wife, although he had not done so. Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O Aisha! Do you know, the thing I had asked Allah Almighty about, Allah Almighty has given me an answer regarding it. Two men came to me; one sat by my feet and the other sat by my head. The one sitting by my feet asked the one by my head: What is the matter with this man? He replied: He has been bewitched. The first asked: Who has bewitched him? The second replied: Labeed bin A’sam. The first asked: In what thing? The second replied: In the spathe of a male date-palm, in a comb, and in the hair that comes out during combing, which are placed under a stone at the edge of the well of Dharwan.”
Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went there and said: “This is the same well that was shown to me in my dream.” There, the tops of the date-palm trees were like the heads of devils, and its water was as if henna had been mixed in it. Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: By the order of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), those things were taken out from there. Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I said: O Messenger of Allah! Why did you not do so? The narrator named Sufyan says: By this, it is meant, why did you not spread this matter (Ibn Hajar has stated that by this, it is meant, why did you not do the treatment that is done after magic)? So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “As for this, Allah Almighty has granted me cure, and I did not like to spread evil among the people regarding this matter.” Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Labeed bin A’sam was a man from Banu Zurayq who was an ally of the Jews. Sufyan says: Abdul Malik bin Jurayj had narrated this tradition earlier, before our meeting with Hisham. He said that a person from the family of Urwah had narrated this tradition, but when Hisham came, he narrated this tradition to us.
