Hadith 258
258 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ سَأَلَ الْحَارِثُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَيْفَ يَأْتِيكَ الْوَحْيُ؟ فَقَالَ: «يَأْتِينِي أَحْيَانًا فِي مِثْلِ صَلْصَلَةِ الْجَرَسِ فَيَفْصِمُ عَنِّي، وَقَدْ وَعَيْتُ عَنْهُ، وَهُوَ أَشَدُّ مَا يَأْتِينِي، وَيَأْتِينِي أَحْيَانًا فِي مِثْلِ صُورَةِ الْفَتَي فَيَنْبِذُهُ إِلِيَّ فَأَعِيهِ، وَهُوَ أَهْوَنُهُ عَلَيَّ»
Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Harith bin Hisham asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): How does revelation come to you? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: “Sometimes it comes to me like the ringing of a bell, and when this state departs, I remember what was revealed. This is the hardest experience for me. Sometimes the angel comes to me in the form of a young man and conveys the words to me, and I retain them. This is the easiest form for me.”
