Hadith 253
253 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا الزُّهْرِيُّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ: دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدِ اسْتَتَرْتُ بِقِرَامٍ فِيهِ تَمَاثِيلُ، فَلَمَّا رَآهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَلَوَّنَ وَجْهُهُ ثُمَّ هَتَكَهُ، وَقَالَ «إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُشَبِّهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ»
Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to my house and I had made a curtain of fine cloth on which there were pictures. When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw it, the color of his blessed face changed. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) pulled it down harshly and said: “On the Day of Resurrection, the people who will receive the severest punishment from Allah will be those who try to imitate Allah’s creation.”
