Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: A man sought permission to enter upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Allow him to enter! He is the worst person of his family.” (At this point, the narrator is doubtful about a word.) When that person came into the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke to him gently. When the man left, I said: O Messenger of Allah! You had said something about him earlier, then you spoke to him gently. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O Aisha! The worst person in status and rank before Allah on the Day of Resurrection will be the one whom people leave alone out of fear of his foul language.” Sufyan says: I said to Muhammad bin al-Muntazir: I have observed you, you always express doubt in this narration (i.e., you feel doubt about its wording).
