222 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ يَقُولُ: حَضَرْتُ جَنَازَةَ أُمِّ أَبَانَ بِنْتِ عُثْمَانَ فِي الْجَنَازَةِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَجَلَسْتُ بَيْنَهُمَا فَبَكَي النِّسَاءُ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: إِنَّ بُكَاءَ الْحَيِّ لِلْمَيِّتِ عَذَابٌ لِلْمَيِّتِ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسِ: صَدَرْنَا مَعَ عُمَرَ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ حَتَّي إِذَا كُنَّا بِالْبَيْدَاءِ إِذَا هُوَ بِرَكْبٍ نُزُولٍ تَحْتَ شَجَرَةٍ فَقَالَ: اذْهَبْ يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ فَانْظُرْ مَنِ الرَّكْبُ فَالْحَقْنِي قَالَ: فَذَهَبْتُ ثُمَّ جِئْتُ، فَقُلْتُ: هَذَا صُهَيْبٌ مَوْلَي ابْنِ جُدْعَانَ فَقَالَ مُرْهُ فَلْيَلْحَقْنِي، فَلَمَّا قَدِمَا الْمَدِينَةَ لَمْ يَلْبَثُ عُمَرُ أَنْ طُعِنَ فَجَاءَ صُهَيْبٌ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ وَا أُخَيَّاهُ وَا صَاحِبَاهُ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ مَهٍ يَا صُهَيْبُ إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ عَلَيْهِ، قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: فَأَتَيْتُ عَائِشَةَ فَسَأَلْتُهَا فَقَالَتْ: يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ عُمَرَ إِنَّمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيَزِيدُ الْكَافِرَ عَذَابًا بِبَعْضِ بُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ، وَقَدْ قَضَي اللَّهُ ﴿ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَي﴾ "
Ibn Abu Mulaika says: I participated in the funeral of Umm Aban, the daughter of Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) were also present at the funeral. I sat between these two gentlemen. When the women started crying, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Because of the crying of a living person over the deceased, the deceased is punished. The narrator says: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) informed: (Once) we were returning with the Commander of the Faithful, Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), (from Makkah). When we reached the place of "Baida," there were some riders camped under a tree. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Abdullah! Go and see who these riders are, then come back to me. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I went and came back to inform that it was Sayyiduna Suhaib (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Tell him to join us. When these people reached Madinah Munawwarah, soon after, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was wounded. Sayyiduna Suhaib (may Allah be pleased with him) came, saying: Oh my brother! Oh my companion! Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Stop, O Suhaib! The deceased is punished because of the crying of a living person over him. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I went to the service of Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and asked her about this matter. She said: May Allah have mercy on Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah increases the punishment of a disbeliever because of the crying of his family over him." (That is, along with the punishment, he is also distressed by the crying of his family.) Whereas Allah has decreed: «وَلا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَى» "No person will bear the burden of another."
