Narration on Praying Sitting Due to Old Age
Hadith 192
192 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي بِاللَّيْلِ قَائِمًا فَلَمَّا أَسَنَّ صَلَّي جَالِسًا فَإِذَا بَقِيتْ عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثُونَ أَوْ أَرْبَعُونَ آيَةَ قَامَ فَقَرَأَهَا ثُمَّ رَكَعَ»
Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to stand at night and perform prayer. When he became older, he began to perform prayer while sitting, until when there remained thirty or forty verses to be recited, he would stand and recite them, then go into bowing (ruku’).
