Instruction on the Excellence of Bathing on Friday
Hadith 178
178 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا يَحْيَي بْنُ سَعِيدٍ مَا لَا أُحْصِي عَنْ عَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: " كَانَ النَّاسُ عُمَّالَ أَنْفُسِهِمْ فَكَانُوا يَرُوحُونَ بِهَيْئَتِهِمْ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقِيلَ لَهُمْ: لَوِ اغْتَسَلْتُمْ "
Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Previously, people used to do their own work, so on Fridays they would come in that very state, so it was said to them: If you perform ghusl (ritual bath), (it would be better).
