Narration on Losing a Necklace at Abwa Night and the Verse of Tayammum
Hadith 165
165 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ " أَنَّهَا سَقَطَتْ قِلَادَتُهَا لَيْلَةَ الْأَبْوَاءِ فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلَيْنِ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فِي طَلَبِهَا فَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَلَيْسَ مَعَهُمَا مَاءٌ فَلَمْ يَدْرِيَا كَيْفَ يَصْنَعَانِ؟ فَنَزَلَتْ آيَةُ التَّيَمُّمِ فَقَالَ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ: جَزَاكِ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا مَا نَزَلَ بِكِ أَمْرٌ قَطُّ فَكَرِهْتِهِ إِلَّا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَكِ مَخْرَجًا، وَجَعَلَ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ فِيهِ خَيْرًا "
Mother of the Believers, Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: On the night of «ابواء», her necklace fell, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent two men from among the Muslims to search for it. Meanwhile, the time for prayer came, and they did not have any water with them. They did not know what to do, so the verse regarding tayammum was revealed. Upon this, Sayyiduna Usayd bin Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him) said (about Lady Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her): May Allah reward you with goodness. Whenever any matter occurred with you that you disliked, Allah made a way out for you in it and created goodness for the Muslims in it.
