Narration on Severe Punishment for Image Makers
Hadith 117
117 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ مَسْرُوقٍ فِي دَارِ يَسَارِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ فَرَأَي مَسْرُوقٌ فِي صُفَّتِهِ تَمَاثِيلَ فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الْمُصَوِّرُونَ»
Muslim bin Subaih narrates: We were with Masruq at the house of Yasar bin Numair. Masruq saw pictures hanging in their house, so he narrated this incident: I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) saying, he said: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "On the Day of Resurrection, the most severe punishment will be for those who make pictures."
