Hadith 103
103 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ عَبْدُ الْغَفَّارِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ الْمُؤَدِّبُ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ فِي سَنَةِ سَبْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَأَرْبَعِمِائَةٍ فَأَقَرَّ بِهِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ ابْنُ الصَّوَّافِ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ فَأَقَرَّ بِهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ شَيْخًا مِنَ النَّخْعِ يُسَمَّي عَمْرًا وَيُكْنَي بِأَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيَّ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ: «الْإِيمَانُ بِاللَّهِ، وَجِهَادٌ فِي سَبِيلِهِ» قُلْتُ: ثُمَّ أَيٌّ؟ قَالَ: «ثُمَّ الصَّلَاةُ لِوَقْتِهَا» قُلْتُ: ثُمَّ أَيٌّ؟ قَالَ: «ثُمَّ بِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ» قُلْتُ: فَأَيُّ الْكَبَائِرِ أَكْبَرُ؟ قَالَ «أَنْ تَجْعَلَ لِلَّهِ نِدًّا وَهُوَ خَلَقَكَ» قَالَ: قُلْتُ: ثُمَّ أَيٌّ؟ قَالَ: «أَنْ تَقْتُلَ وَلَدَكَ مِنْ أَجْلِ أَنَ يَأْكُلَ مَعَكَ» قُلْتُ: ثُمَّ أَيٌّ؟ قَالَ: «ثُمَّ أَنْ تُزَانِيَ بِحَلِيلَةِ جَارِكَ» ثُمَّ تَلَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " ﴿ وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا يَزْنُونَ وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ يَلْقَ أَثَامًا﴾ " الْآيَةَ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Which deed is the most virtuous? He (peace be upon him) said: “To have faith in Allah and to strive in His path.” I asked: Then which one? He (peace be upon him) said: “Then to perform the prayer at its appointed time.” I said: Then which one? He (peace be upon him) said: “To treat parents with kindness.” I asked: Which major sin is the greatest? The Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “That you associate partners with Allah, while He created you.” Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I asked: Then which one? He (peace be upon him) said: “That you kill your child out of fear that he will share food with you.” I said: Then which one? He (peace be upon him) said: “Then that you commit adultery with your neighbor’s wife.” Then the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) recited this verse: “And those who do not worship any other deity along with Allah, and do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden except by right, and do not commit adultery. And whoever does that shall meet the penalty.”
