Abu Kathir narrates: I was with my master, Sayyiduna Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), at the time when he fought with the people of Nahrawan. Some people felt confused about not killing certain individuals, so Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O people! The Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) told me this: "Indeed, some people will leave the religion just as an arrow passes through its target, and they will never return to the religion. Remember! Their specific sign is that among them there will be a black man, whose one hand will be deformed. One of his hands will be like a woman's breast, and it will move as a woman's breast moves." The narrator says: I think these words are also in the narration: Around it there will be seven hairs. (Sayyiduna Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, said:) You people search for him, because I think he will be among them. So the people found that man among the slain by the riverbank. Then Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) have spoken the truth. Sayyiduna Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) had an Arab bow hanging around his neck; he touched that bow to the deformed hand and said this.
