Hadith 5
Abu Sa'id Maqbari narrates: He heard Sayyiduna Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) saying, whenever someone narrating a hadith told me a hadith which I had not heard from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), I would instruct him to swear by the name of Allah that he had heard this from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). I did not do this only with Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), because he did not speak falsely. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) told me that he heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying this: Whenever a person remembers a sin that he has committed, then when he remembers his sin, if he gets up and performs ablution and performs ablution well, then offers two units of prayer, then seeks forgiveness from Allah Almighty for that sin, he is forgiven.
