Guidance to seek well-being on the pulpit and narration while weeping
Hadith 2
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ سُلَيْمَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَوْسَطَ الْبَجَلِيَّ وَهُوَ عَلَي مِنْبَرِ حِمْصٍ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ يَقُولُ وَهُوَ عَلَي مِنْبَرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ خَنَقَتْهُ الْعَبْرَةُ ثُمَّ عَادَ فَخَنَقَتْهُ الْعَبْرَةُ ثُمَّ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ عَامَ الْأَوَّلِ: «سَلُوا اللَّهَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فَإِنَّهُ مَا أُوتِيَ عَبْدٌ بَعْدَ يَقِينٍ شَيْئًا خَيْرًا مِنَ الْعَافِيَةِ»
Awsat Bijli narrated this on the pulpit of Homs. He says: I heard Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) saying this on the pulpit of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He says: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and due to weeping, the voice of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) got stuck in his throat. Then when he tried to speak again, his voice got stuck again. Then he narrated this: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) last year saying: "You people should ask Allah Almighty for forgiveness and well-being, for no servant has been given anything after certainty that is better than well-being."
