Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Satan ties three knots at the back of the head of any person. With each knot he says: ‘Sleep! The night is long, so keep sleeping.’ If the person wakes up and remembers Allah, one knot is undone. If he performs ablution, two knots are undone. And if he also offers prayer, all the knots are undone, and in the morning he becomes energetic and cheerful. Otherwise, he wakes up with a lazy and sluggish heart.”
