966 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَامَ رَجُلٌ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُصَلِّي أَحَدُنَا فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَوَلِكُلِّكُمْ ثَوْبَانِ» ¤ وَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ لِرَجُلٍ يَسْأَلُهُ: «أَتَعْرِفُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، فَإِنَّهُ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ، وَإِنَّ ثِيَابَهُ مَوضُوعَةٌ عَلَي الْمِشْجَبِ» ¤

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man stood up and asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Can a person perform prayer in a single garment? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Does each of you have two garments?" Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the person who had asked him: Do you know Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him)? He performs prayer in a single garment, even though his other garment is hanging on the peg.
