Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the day of Jumu’ah comes, at every door of the mosque there are angels who record the names of the people according to their arrival. The name of the one who comes first is written first, then the Imam comes, so the (angels’) scrolls are folded up and they begin to listen to the sermon. So the one who goes early on the day of Jumu’ah is like one who offers a camel as a sacrifice, then the next is like one who offers a cow as a sacrifice, then the next is like one who offers a ram as a sacrifice, until the narrator mentioned even a chicken and an egg.
Imam Humaydi says: Sufyan was told: Other hadith scholars have stated regarding this narration that it is transmitted from a narrator named “Agharr.” So Sufyan said: I have never heard al-Zuhri mention “Agharr.” I have only heard him narrate it from Sa’id, from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him).
