Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about hunting with a trained dog. He (peace be upon him) said: “When you release your trained dog and mention the name of Allah upon it, then eat whatever it catches for you. But if the dog eats from it itself, then do not eat it, for it has hunted it for itself.” I asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is your opinion if other dogs join our dogs? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “You mentioned the name of Allah upon your dog.”
